Austin is a freelance photographer based in Orange County, CA. He holds an FAA-license, which allows him to fly unmanned aircraft (drones). Austin has been photographing clients for over five years and his business is growing, so he wants to expand his online presence.
Austin wanted a very minimal design and a platform to display some of his work. He didn’t want a lot of text and wanted to focus on highlighting some of his favorite photographic categories.
As with most websites that are image heavy, it is very important to optimize every picture and/or video to the smallest file size possible. This is an important process that every Web designer/developer must do to ensure fast loading times. Lastly, as I do with every website I build, I wanted to make sure his website was responsive ready and the information transferred perfectly to a smaller screen.
To keep with a minimal design, I designed a custom off-canvas menu navigation, which is triggered by a hamburger icon. I also optimized every image using a combination of Photoshop and TinyPNG. The client wanted a light grey background for his entire website, so I did that globally. If he ever decides to add more pages, the color scheme will carry over. I'm really happy with the end result - but more importantly, so is Austin.
